Another Digimon often seen in Aurora's setting, Seadramon
These large aquatic serpents are another common inhabitants of the Digital World, and can be found in various bodies of water, from rivers and lakes to seas and oceans.
They're excellent swimmers, unsurprisingly, and can dive to impressive depths. A very noticeable feature all Seadramon possess is the metal helmet-like armor on their heads, which is a part of their body, something observed pretty often in many different Digimon species, where various metals and minerals grow naturally on them. The beak and fins of the helmet keep growing with age, and it loses its shine the older the serpent gets.
They also come in a variety of colors, though the most common ones are blues and greens with white undersides, and red tailfins and jaw markings. Purple, grey and white of various hues were observed, along with some minor differences in appearance, which is attributed to different habitats. There have been cases of Seadramon found with bioluminescence, those who seem to prefer living in caves or at greater depths - another trait of Digimon - fast evolving adaptation - compared to any life forms of Earth. They can breathe on land, but they're slow and somewhat clumsy, moving around with the help of their front flippers and powerful tails.
Seadramon, though not all, are known to be more dangerous and territorial than some other Digimon humans encountered, and are somewhat prone to attacking without asking questions first. Any smaller Digimon or animal, including humans, are potentially on the menu, as Seadramon are near-exclusive carnivores, though mostly hunt fish and other aquatic life forms. Digimon can be sought after as a source of pure energy, rather than food. They attack by strangling their opponents and dragging them underwater if they can drown, or breathing out a cone of frost and ice.
Despite this, several non-partnered ones are known to work on Earth, in the organization alongside humans and other Digimon, namely helping with marine biology research, human-Digimon tech development, and issues like climate change and pollution. Later on, as Digimon become more publicly known, they take on the roles of helping in cases of natural disasters, sinking ships, and also patrol of coastal lines in case of aquatic hostile Digimon appearance, as well.

"I couldn't get a group together to escort me through Saint Mocianne's Arboretum, but I did spy these darling sparrows huddling together, so I snapped a picture of them..." Snippet from the journal of Claude-Linnet "Beatle"

Working on my Choose Your Own Adventure story for my final project/exam and my bugbear right now is that we have to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator AND Adobe Firefly but that last one... eugh... I don't want to use genAI in my project but I'm anxious that if I don't I'll get marked down for not using all the stuff we were told to use for the project...

Stop infantalizing people who are neurodivergent. Stop treating people who are neurodivergent with the same rules as neurotypicals and expect them to "get" it. Stop pretending to be allies to neurodivergent people who when they show their actual symptoms that aren't just quirky "tee hee hee I'm so random" tiktok coded bullshit, turn on them when it displays as the actual mental health problem that it is.
It's exhausting, to be honest.
Also: It is not a flex to be more functioning than someone else who is ND either. It is not a flex to be further along in recovery from any mental health trauma. It is not a flex to have more understanding of your condition than someone else who is also ND because you've been able to access therapy and tools to work with it.

hey so. random thought. what are the odds that liu xiao was the client that approached qiao ling for the S1E1 case
#mine musings#liveblogging link click#link click#link click spoilers#yingdu episode 2 spoilers in the next tags:#for a show whose whole schtick is about resolving personal regrets#we never actually. found out what the deal is with S1E1's client#like we know about emma but emma is just incidental to the case. she's not the client#the client wanted the que de games scandal#all other cases had a pretty clear “reason” for the job and they're all personal regrets#noodle shop. earthquake arc. siwen. doudou case. even xu shanshan. EVEN LI TIANCHEN#cosplayer girl and the rich friend who got scammed and even vivian#might just be overthinking it but. you know#in hindsight it's just odd we never found out who the S1E1 client was. they're the only ones we don't know#but link click will spend a whole episode talking about every client's backstory if they could#i'm thinking the vein attack is what should've happened normally but for some reason in S1#the “trap liu min in the darkroom” plot happens instead#and that only ever really happens as a domino effect of S1E1 case#so i'm thinking it's like#liu xiao getting someone arrested in bridon -> leads to cxs going to bridon. somehow#liu xiao giving them the S1E1 case -> leads to cxs meeting red eyes#(phone beeping) you should really stop thinking 'bout it. stop thinking 'bout it. stop stop thinking 'bout it why your mind overclouded#EDIT: OH AND ALSO WASN'T THE TRIO BEING MYSTERIOUSLY PROFILED BY SOMEONE LIKE#THREE DAYS BEFORE THE S1E1 CASE#and then they destroyed those dossiers on april 18th the day S1E1 case concluded

#snake#snakes#pets#hognoses#hognose#sakura#sakura kurīmu#this was shortly after she joined our family and was still in her baby bin#she wanted a friend so bad she befriended the camera#this poor poor lonely noodle#it was not long after she and scoria were allowed to meet and then refused to be separated#they go in their own little sleeping hides at night#but they both get very upset if the other is away for long#they'll watch me holding the other#and sakura has a conniption if I take her sister out of the room to play in another area#they absolutely need each other#The way she initially attempted to bond with the camera reminded me of Harry Harlow's monkey experiment with surrogate monkeys#it is INCREDIBLY sad that these animals desperately wanted love and affection SO BADLY they turned to the closest they could find#which were inanimate objects that couldn't really love them back but it was better than nothing#that can't have been good for their psychological development for so so many reasons#but now that Sakura has the love and support of her sibling Scoria I don't ever intend to separate them so long as adult hormonal changes#don't suddenly make them go to sweet with each other to aggressive#again I think the agression or at least eating of smaller males comes from psychological issues not the species seeking out and eating them#like king snakes intentionally do#at least with girls I do not have experience with boys#but maybe someone with a strong understanding of snakes and their psychology and body language might pick up where I cannot examine such#once again my tags are longer than the post itself lol

WIP Wednesday
The presence of Jyggalag in the Shivering Isles is impossible to miss, at least for Sheogorath. Both of them share a claim to the realm even if Jyggalag has ceded control in favor of rebuilding a center of power adjacent to it. But that is taking time, even if the bones of Oblivion are easy enough to shape for a Prince of their power.
Not that that stops them from coming and going as they please. There's a kind of order in madness, after all, and a kind of madness in single-minded order. Especially since all of Jyggalag's priests are madmen of the Isles until the mortals learn his name again.
For all that the other Princes intended them as opposing aspects—set them up as such so that the destruction and remaking of their realm would prevent them from becoming again a threat—now that they aren't cursed, they can't help but be drawn to the parts of each other that were once them. It took a while for the mantling to settle and Sheogorath to become Themself. But once she stopped being so much Him, the matter sorted itself out. That took a bit of time, but a century isn't that long, considering.
Naturally, the others have yet to realize how much they have changed. Sheogorath isn't sure if they've even noticed the way their curse has been circumvented. For some of them—Azura, Mephala, Nocturnal—it is in their nature to know such things. Of the three, it's Mephala that she'd most worry about, but they aren't plotting. The plotting was done once the Greymarch was over and she mantled as the new Madgod and none of the other Princes have come snooping. The pair of them have been somewhat isolated from the others since the conception of their curse, anyway. Left to their own devices and destruction. But no one's come to check.
Plus, Sheogorath finds Jyggalag much less boring than Peryite and Jyggalag finds Sheogorath infinitely more tolerable than Mehrunes Dagon. Complementary aspects, rather than adversarial ones.
But the point remains. Jyggalag does not need any special power to find Sheogorath in her rooms nor does she to feel him coming. He steps across Oblivion straight to her side the same as walking down the street and when he arrives she's already anticipating it.
"Hello, my Prince."

one of my big cultural gaps is disney but i started typing out a beauty and the beast inspired thing anyway thinking well maybe if i dont know the story in its most popular form at least i might come up with something a wee bit different from other people doing it and then mine has a plot device a somewhat inaccurate painting as the basis on an agreement to marry and only now did i think 'fuck i've made him anne of cleves'*
*i mean in a pop culture sense. i do tend to agree that the holbein painting can't be that inaccurate and she probably actually did look like that (hot!) and i feel i should disclaimer this in the post itself not the tags because if i don't someone will object won't they

I just saw a blog try and pretend like Gazans aren't under threat of extinction at the moment and that Israelis are the only ones who are currently under genocidal conditions. Buddy. Buddy. Please. Israelis, from what I understand, are under threat of genocidal intent from Hamas and that's what 07/10 exemplified. Gaza is getting carpet-bombed and starved and routinely pushed to leave their land under threat of death. Refugee camps are getting attacked. Civilian casualties are through the roof. People waving white flags are still getting shot. People in Gaza don't have access to clean water, food, electricity and healthcare right now. We can go into the nebulous details about whose fault that is later: I'm just laying bare what's happening. Is it so hard for people to understand that two things can be true at the same time? Hamas is a threat and very dangerous. The people at the helm of Israel's military are using the kind of dehumanising language that illustrates genocidal intent to some degree, Netanyahu will not accept the idea of a Palestinian state period and the Israeli military is being supported by the US government. There are levels to danger. Danger is danger but only one side in this bloody, deadly conflict (on all sides) will win in a war of attrition and that's a *major* problem when the people at the helm of the side with the strong military power describe no one in the Gaza Strip as innocent. Both parties can be under threat from each other. Two things can be true at the same time.

Hi Bones!! Thank you for you hard work on this project and for sharing it with us!
I've seen your posts about weird representation of society (regarding the "natural order of things") in xenofiction, especially in lion king, so I wanted to ask:
could you recommend any xenofiction media that has all (or most of the) animal species sapient? Or is the only solution to make just one or two species sapient while the others (especially prey) are plain animals?
Really sorry if you've seen this ask from me before - my account had a weird laggy period when I couldn't send or receive messages and asks, so I don't know if you got the previous one! I just know that now it's fixed so I double all the asks sent haha
Honestly I'm not totally sure! If any 3rd person has some good recommendations for "every being is alive" xenofiction types, feel free to weigh in.
If you want to jump in with me though, I am following the webcomic Africa. It updates every Wednesday. Africa is about a mother Leopard on the verge of a great ecological disaster, the relationship between her children and the animals around her, and the strength of both instinct and choice as the characters face an uncertain future.
Since it's ongoing, I still don't know how it's going to end and can't judge it as a full work! But it's absolutely fascinating and I think the author is doing a fantastic job so far. Bonus points for the way it portrays humans, btw.
No more spoilers though, if you're interested, it's on Webtoons.
(I'm also planning to read Oren's Forge soon. Ask me about it again in a few months over on Bonebabbles and I'll give you my thoughts)
As an aside though, funny you mention it because like... ever since I was a kid I've had a story I want to tell with the premise. It's a scintilla I've kept close to me for well over a decade but haven't done anything official with. So this is actually a theme I've thought about a lot.
It's rare to see it done well though because like... its very premise butts heads with reality. The "natural order" that an animal follows is not something it moralizes. A tiger doesn't have the capacity to think about how fucked up it is to kill to stay alive, the deer doesn't know that if its population isn't controlled it will destroy the forest.
They're animals. They don't HAVE that agency. Your dog does not care about being sterilized. A snake doesn't differentiate between a pinky and an adult mouse except in terms of if it will fit in its mouth. But the minute you put human morality in there... they have the ability to reason, create and agree on the rules of a society, make choices about MORALITY.
If nothing is going to change about their world, you just end up putting human arguments about "natural order" in their mouths and, well... start telling a parable justifying this "natural order."
(Genuine) Does what I'm saying make sense? Animals DON'T rationalize or negotiate. HUMANS do.
So the minute you're approaching a world with that logic, like it or not, you are invoking those "arguments from nature." And you're putting them in a being that is not fully an animal or a human, but an anthropomorphic mix which CAN rationalize but WON'T make an effort to change their world.
(Which is why tbh the best examples i know of are works with a theme of "change.")
OH WAIT I also remember another that's interesting!! Leafy: Hen into the Wild actually has a fascinating take on it. It's not interested in "moralizing" or really being about an animal society. It's a very emotional sort of movie, and it's about joys in adversity, the freedom that choice gives you, how bad things are going to happen and you can never completely prevent them.
INTENSE movie emotionally, the ending will wreck you (especially in the English translation which leaves out a really important theme making it feel abrupt x_x) but it's really good. Check that one out.
OH and also You Are Umasou. That one has more pitfalls imo (it does try to moralize a bit) but it's super unique as a movie. And is about dinosaurs.
